Caminhos De Ferro De Mocambique Dampflokomotive.

Die Lokomotive vom Typ Garratt ist eine Erfindung des Engländers Herbert William Garratt.
Sie ist wohl eine der besten Konstruktionen im Lokomotivbau und wurde 1907 mit einer Patenterteilung rechtlich geschützt.
Besonders die englischen Firmen Beyer Peacock & Co. und Kitson & Co. haben bei der Konstruktion große Forschungsarbeit geleistet.

Die Lokomotiven sind heute noch mit sehr beachtlichen Zugleistungen in Südafrika in Betrieb.
Bemerkenswert ist auch die überaus lange Lebensdauer der Maschinen.

Prototype:
The locomotive of type Garratt is an invention of the Englishman Herbert William Garratt.
It is probably one of the best designs in locomotive construction and it was legally protected with a patent in 1907.
Especially the English company Beyer Peacock & Co. and Kitson & Co. have done extensive research for this design.
The locomotives are still providing extensive service in South Africa.
Especially noteworthy is the extremely long service life of these locomotives.
