Vorbild:
Gedeckte Güterwagen aus Stahl wurden in den 1940er Jahren immer öfter eingesetzt um die Holz Güterwagen, die leicht Schaden nahmen, zu ersetzen. Diese Wagen waren zwar teuer in der Beschaffung wurden aber kurzfristig zum Industrie-Standard da sie stabiler waren, weniger Wartung benötigten und weil sie länger hielten. Diese Güterwagen waren auch als rollende Werbeflächen bekannt.

Prototype:
Steel Box Cars gained popularity in the 1940's after damage-prone Wood Box Cars fell out of favor. Although costly to construct, Steel Box Cars quickly became the industry standard because of their strength, low maintenance cost, and long lifespan. Box Cars, in general, are also known for being 'billboards on wheels' with their beautifully painted ends and sides.
