Vorbild:
Einer der beliebtesten Namen im Bahnwesen hat eine eigentümliche Geschichte: "Gramps" (Opa) war der Spitzname des Ölquellen-Besitzers William Hughes. Zur Freude seiner Enkel ließ er diesen Namen auf die Tankwagen der Union Tank Car Company (UTLX) schreiben, die auf der Rio Grande-Strecke zur Raffinerie in Alamosa, Colorado, verkehrten.

GRAMPS Kesselwagen der zwischen 1993 und 1994 von LGB welweit vermarket wurde.
In 1989 war dieser Wagen eine limitierte Sonderauflage für LGB of America, Später wurde der Wagen dann in den USA unter der Nummer 72860 -87 als Superset mit insgesamt 4 Wagen verkauft.
Bei allen Versionen war 'SAFETY VALVES' falsch buchstabier.
Der Tank läßt sich füllen und über einen Hahn entleeren.

One of the most popular names in railroading, “Gramps†was the nickname of oilfield owner William Hughes. To please his grandchildren, he had this name painted on the tank cars of the Union Tank Car Company (UTLX) serving the refinery in Alamosa, Colorado via the Rio Grande right-of-way.

GRAMPS tankcar marketed by LGB worldwide between 1993 and 1994.
In 1989 this car was a limited special edition for LGB of America, later this car was also sold in the US with the product ID 72860 - 87 as a super set with a total of four cars..
In all versions 'SAFETY VALVES' was misspelled.
