Vorbild -

English

Electric locomotive type 1020 of the Austrian Federal Railways.

Prototype -
During the planning stages of this type of locomotive, its future use on the Austria Alpine ramps was considered in the design and by the end of the second World War there were 44 of these locomotives in service in Austria. In 1952, ÖBB ordered three more locomotives, and then in 1954 changed the series name to 1020.
The 1020 series locomotives were used for decades in the freight and ramp services and hauled trains as far as the neighbouring countries, Germany, Italy and Slovenia.
Starting in 1967 the locomotives were modernized. They received dual front window (originally there were three smaller ones), headlight and tail light combinations, new livery (blood orange instead of green) and ventilation grills.
The last ones of this series of locomotives were retired in 1995.
